Darkroom is the photo room of the suite. A library for the whole shoot, developing that never touches your originals, and camera RAW that opens on your machine. No cloud, no catalogue lock-in.
Catalogued, in order.
Six entries from the developing room, all shipped and all included. Every one of them runs on your machine.
- 01
The library
Open a folder and Darkroom reads the whole shoot. Cull and organise thousands of frames; your recent folders sit one click from the door.
- 02
Develop, non-destructively
Exposure, white balance, a tone curve, colour, sharpening and a vignette, all computed from the untouched pixels. Move a slider back and the detail returns.
- 03
A sidecar per frame
Every photo keeps its own develop settings in a small file beside it. Your originals are never rewritten, and the folder travels with its edits.
- 04
Camera RAW
Open a CR2, NEF, ARW or DNG and it develops on the spot, decoded entirely on your machine by our own build of the open LibRaw engine.
- 05
Film looks
Portra, Velvia, Teal and Orange, Noir and Vintage, built from the develop engine rather than baked-in filters. A finished grade in one click.
- 06
The filmstrip
A strip of frames along the bottom edge and the arrow keys move you through the shoot without ever leaving the loupe.
A negative was always yours to keep.
Darkroom never forgets that.
Your photos stay where you put them, in their own formats. Edits live in plain sidecar files beside each frame. Nothing is uploaded, and a trial ending never takes your library away.
Darkroom is part of the Abode private beta, free with a key. $5 a month per room at the full launch in late 2026, or $20 for the whole house.
